About Quito
In Quito, Ecuador, access to health care is limited by several barriers. Many residents face financial obstacles, such as out-of-pocket costs for medicines, tests, or transportation. Health facilities are concentrated in central areas, leaving peripheral neighborhoods underserved.
Within the health system itself, long wait times, shortages, and weak follow-up care for chronic diseases are common. Migrants also struggle with legal and documentation issues, while low health literacy and mistrust of institutions further delay care. Together, these barriers create significant inequities in who can access timely, quality health services in the city.

Barriers to Healthcare:
Financial constraints
Healthcare system saturation
Maternal and child health
