Timmy Connect Trip
We have reached our maximum capacity for this trip
Trip Description
This special medical service trip is designed for smaller Timmy chapters or chapters whose members have not participated in a Timmy trip in several years. By opening participation across chapters, recruitment and coordination are shared rather than falling on a single chapter, with Timmy managing the overall coordination.
TRIP ITINERARY
Volunteers will arrive on May 15 and depart on May 23 via Cibao International Airport (STI), with group transportation provided to Montecristi, approximately two hours away.
Friday, May 15: Traveling day. This is the day to arrive in the Dominican Republic. Trip participants should book flights that arrive close together, or if arriving earlier, wait at the airport for the rest. We will share that recommended flight in the next few days.
Saturday, May 16: Orientation day. You will meet with the local team to go over logistics and final details for the week. You will also help organize medication for the week.
Sunday, May 17-Thursday, May 21: Clinic days
Friday, May 22: Recreational day
Saturday, May 23: Traveling day. Everyone should also depart together.
ESTIMATED COST
The estimated trip fee is $1,000 per person. This includes in-country transportation, lodging, meals, cultural activities, medicines from our partner’s formulary, and a referral fund to support patients whose needs extend beyond our clinic’s scope and treatment capacity. The trip fee does not include airfare.
TIMMY’s Partner
In the Dominican Republic, our primary partner is BANELINO, founded in 1996 when smaller banana producers in Montecristi and Mao decided to join forces. BANELINO stands for Organic Bananas from the Northwest Line, and it is an organization whose goal is to guarantee banana sales throughout the whole year at a fair price that permits employees and their families to live dignified lives. Additionally, Timmy financially supports and expands their local health programs through fundraising.
Open Roles
We are seeking medical providers, including MDs/DOs, NPs, and PAs. We are also recruiting general volunteers, with priority given to Timmy chapter members.
Important Note
Your days in Montecristi will be an invaluable opportunity to learn more about a country different from your own and serve people in much need of your time, energy, and hope. It will also be a week to reflect on your beliefs, attitudes, and goals. Your experience will be a fun, challenging, and eye-opening experience. But remember that the trip only lasts a short time, so we urge you to come with an open mind, a flexible attitude, and a sense of humor.
