ALUMNI TRIP 2026
Alumni Trip
The medical service trip is a flagship component of Timmy Global Health’s continuum of care in Yasuní National Park, Ecuador. Hombro a Hombro is working with the University of San Francisco de Quito Tiputini Biodiversity Station. They collaborate with the community contacts and will be involved in the follow-up/referral care of the patients after the trip.
The brigade will serve mainly the Waorani at the Guiyero Community Center. Waorani means ‘people’. Their native language is Wao terero. Other people are living in the national park, but the Waos are the main indigenous group.
TIMMY’s Partner
Timmy Global Health and Hombro a Hombro have been in partnership since 2013. Hombro a Hombro leads two main health initiatives: A Health Center in Santo Domingo, Ecuador (El Centro de Salud Familiar y Comunitario Hombro a Hombro) and Medical Brigades through TGH, University of Kentucky, and other international and local entities.
Health and Safety
Several vaccines are recommended or required to enter Yasuni National Park in Ecuador. These include vaccines for Yellow Fever (required), Tetanus (required), Hepatitis A, and Hepatitis B.
Important Note
Your days in Ecuador will be an invaluable opportunity to learn more about a country different from your own, practice your Spanish and Wao terero, and serve people in much need of your time, energy, and hope. It will also be a week to reflect on your beliefs, attitudes, and goals. Your experience will be a fun, challenging, and eye-opening experience. But remember that the trip only lasts a short time, so we urge you to come with an open mind, a flexible attitude, and a sense of humor.
Open Roles
If you have completed your residency and carry a medical license and diploma, you can join as a medical professional.
We are looking for MD/DOs, RNs, and General Volunteers.
